One careless mistake behind the wheel of a car can change someone forever.
When I started driving, I was so worried about being rear ended. I always stopped with plenty of room between me and the car in front of me to try and prevent this. Due to the fact that I stop with plenty of room, it may have been what saved my life. Instead of my car being smashed on the front and back, I was incredibly lucky for it to only be smashed in the back!
December 21st, 2016 my worst nightmare became my reality. I was at a complete stop when a car slammed into the back of me, causing a four car pile up. This accident could’ve been avoided, but someone decided to not pay attention while they were driving. Not only was he driving too fast for such a busy street, he wasn’t paying attention. This accident came with months of medical bills and anxiety. I was terrified to drive for weeks, I was put on medicine to help ease my fears. The pain is going away, and I thought the anxiety was too, until today. I was driving home from visiting family and the highway came to a complete stop. Due to someone not paying attention, they almost slammed into me. I have no idea how they had time to swerve off the road before they plowed into my car, but they did. This brought back flashbacks and anxiety of my original wreck.
Now here’s the point behind this blog.
BE ALERT WHEN YOU DRIVE A CAR! When you decided to speed and not pay attention, remember the fact that you are putting other people at risk. Don’t be selfish. Put the phone down and follow the law. Most people drive 5 over, which is still breaking the law, remember that. Think about others when you get behind the wheel of a car, if you don’t care enough to protect yourself. Please be a little more careful when you decide to drive a car, seriously. If you are too tired to drive, don’t. If you need to talk to someone, Bluetooth your car and call hands free. Just be careful. Don’t change someone else’s life, because you’re being careless. It’s expensive, I promise.
